Day 10 of the 12 days of DIY gifts to make presents another large chunky cowl.
This season has seen this type of cowl in magazines and runways. This one is simple in construction, yet looks elegant and warm, and is long enough to pull up for a hood.
This will work up quickly with a Q hook and 2 skeins of super chunky yarn.
The cowl project time is about 1.5 hours to make.
Please do not post this pattern on your website or take it as your own. I ask that you instead link to my page, which will help with internet karma. Please note you can use this pattern for personal use and sell what you make. I only ask that you credit me as the pattern creator and link to this article. Thank you.
Materials:
2 skeins of super chunky #6 yarn
Size Q hook
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Stitches used:
Half Double Crochet – hdc
Notes:
The cowl is worked in a spiral.
With Q hook, chain 40. Being careful not to tangle the chain, slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1 ch 1 (counts as a stitch). Hdc in next stitch, then hdc around. 40 hdc
Round 2 Hdc in each stitch around. 40 hdc
Round 3 - 16 repeat round 2. 40 hdc
When you get back to the first hdc made in the 16th round, sl st, then fasten off.
Cut yarn and weave in ends. That’s it!
Be sure to look out for day 11.
