Free pattern: Spring fling mesh flower headband
Acquanetta Ferguson
This free pattern is a cute headband that can be crocheted in three different ways, basically depending on what you are comfortable with. Since this is a mesh headband it is perfect for spring. This is also an adjustable headband that you can make to fit for any size head.

Choice 1
This headband can be made for any size head. My head measures 22 inches so I chained 71. I suggest you measure your head and chain the appropriate number making sure to use an odd set of numbers. Sl st to join, making sure to not tangle the chain.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Sl st to join, ch 2.
Rnd 2: Hdc in first ch, ch 1 (sk 1 sc, hdc in next sc, ch 1) around, sl st in top of beg. Ch 2
Rnd 3: Sl st into next sp, ch 2, hdc in same sp, ch 1, (hdc in next sp, ch 1) around, sl in top of beg ch 2
Rnd 4-5: Repeat rnd 3
Rnd 6-7: Switch to second color and repeat rnd 3
Rnd 8-9: Switch back to first color and repeat rnd 3. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
Choice 2
After rnd 1, you can keep going for a spiral effect without doing a ch -2 at the beginning of the round.
Choice 3
Instead of joining in the round, you can just chain the appropriate chain number.
Row 1: sc in second ch from hook to then end. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 2: hdc in first ch, ch 1 (sk 1 sc, hdc in next sc, ch 1) across, ch 2 turn.
Row 3-5: repeat row 2.
Row 6-7: Add second color and repeat row 2.
Row 8-9: Change to first color, and repeat row 2. Fasten off, remember to leave a long tail and sew the sides together. Weave in the ends.
Flower
With smaller hook, ch 5; join with a slip st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch-2), dc, ch 2 7 times in ring; join to 3rd ch.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-2 space around – 8 petals.
Rnd 3: Pull the flower towards and in the back of the flower * sc in dc from Rnd 1, ch 3; repeat from * around; join.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, dc, 3 tr, dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-3 space around – 8 petals.
Rnd 5: Pull the flower towards and in the back of the flower * sc in sc from Rnd 3, ch 4; repeat from * around; join.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, dc, 5 tr, dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-4 space around – 8 petals. Fasten off. Make sure to leave a long tail to sew.
A great place to put the flower is where the headband is seamed or if you chose to spiral the headband, place where you switched colors.

Any questions? Please don’t hesitate to ask.
