Free crochet pattern: Long ribbed slouchy

This beanie is made with Red Heart soft and comes out perfectly slouchy. It is a long beanie but could be easily adjusted for those who prefer less slouch, just take away rounds.
The time to complete this beanie will depend on your level expertise. You should be able to complete within 3-4 hours. This beanie is easily adjustable, but as written should fit 20-22 inch head.
Gauge:
12 dc = 4”
7 Rows = 4”
Materials
Red Heart Soft in your color of choice.
H hook
Tapestry needle
Stitches used:
Double Crochet - dc
Front Post Double Crochet – fpdc
Back Post Double Crochet - bpdc
Round 1 With H hook, ch 3,then 12 dc in in 3rd ch from hook. Sl st in 1st dc. (12 dc)
Round 2 Ch 2, 1 dc in the same stitch as the ch 2 (ch 2 counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in each stitch around. Sl st in ch 2. (24 dc)
Round 3 Ch 2, 2 dc in next stitch, *dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch,* repeat from * around. Sl st in ch 2. (36 dc)
Round 4 Ch 2, dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, *dc in next 2 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch* repeat from * around. Sl st in ch 2. (48 dc)
Round 5 Ch 2, dc in next 2 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, *dc in next 3 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, repeat from * around. Sl st in ch 2. (60 dc).
Round 6 Ch 2, dc in next 8 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, * dc in next 9 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch* repeat from * around. Sl st in ch 2 (66 dc)
Round 7-17 Ch 2, dc in each stitch around. Sl st in ch 2. (66 dc)
Round 18 Ch 2, fpdc in same stitch as ch 2, bpdc in next stitch, *fpdc in stitch, bpdc in next stitch* repeat from * around. Sl st around fpdc. (33 fpdc, 33 bpdc)
Round 19-25 Repeat round 18.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

  2. So by easily adjustable, does that mean by easily stretch to fit or do you have to add more stitches to the row?

      By easily adjustable you can use a different hook size, or change the number of repeats to make a smaller or larger hat. Really up to you and how comfortable you are with changing things in patterns to fit your needs. :)

  4. Easy peasy . I used a 5.5 mm hook for the body. Added an increase row. Followed pattern using 5.5 mm hook for first row of ribbing. Then changed to 4.5 mm hook to make ribbing a little snugger! LOVE it! Thanks for sharing
