This hat is just your basic basket weave construction with a nice slouch, without being over the top slouchy.
This hat should take you approximately 5-7 hours, depending on your level of experience. Gauge is given however this hat is quite simple to adjust for all sizes. Basically it depends on what your starting number is. For this hat a number that is divisible by 6 will work best (i.e. 60, 66, 72, 78, 84, 90, etc.). Just follow the basic pattern with your specifications, as the decrease rounds will not match my numbers.
The hat should fit 20-22 inches.

H Hook
2 contrasting colors of Caron Simply Soft
Tapestry needle
Stitches used:
Front Post Double Crochet - fpdc
Back Post Double Crochet - bpdc
Foundation Single Crochet – fsc
Decrease - dec (here is tutorial on how to do decreases)
Special Stitch: Wrapped Single Crochet – wsc
Special definition for the wsc: Insert hook into next st. Move your working yarn to the back of your work between the hook and the fabric. Complete single crochet normally, making sure to hold the yarn in place (the working yarn moved to the back of your work) while working your sc. Not sure on the directions?

With h hook, fsc 72 stitches, sl st to form a ring.
Round 1 Ch 1, then work 71 around. Sl in ch 1. 72 wsc
Round 2 – 4 Repeat round 1. 72 wsc
Round 5 Ch 3 (counts as a dc), dc in each stitch around. Sl st around ch 3. 72 dc
Round 6 Ch 2 (does not count as a dc here and throughout), fpdc in same stitch, fpdc in next stitch, *bpdc in next 4 stitches, fpdc in next 2 stitches* repeat from *. Sl st around fpdc. 72 dc
Rounds 7 Repeat round 6. Sl st in first stitch in the round. 72 dc
Round 8 Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch here and throughout), bpdc in dc from previous row, bpdc in next stitch, *fpdc in next 4 stitches, bpdc in next 2 stitches* repeat from *. Sl st in first stitch in the round. 72 dc
Round 9 Repeat round 8. Sl st around first stitch in round. 72 dc
Round 10 – 24 Repeat rounds 6-9. Make sure to switch to contrasting color in Round 17.
Decrease rounds
Round 25 Ch 2, fpdc dec over the first two stitches, *bpdc in next 4 stitches, fpdc dec* repeat from *. Sl st around fpdc. 60 dc
Round 26 Ch 2, fpdc in same stitch, *bpdc in next 2 stitches, bpdc dec over next 2 stitches, fpdc* repeat from *. Sl st in first stitch in the round. 48 dc
Round 27 Ch 1, bpdc in dc from previous round, *fpdc in next stitch, fpdc dec over the next 2 stitches, bpdc* repeat from *. Sl st in first stitch in the round. 36 dc
Round 28 Ch 1, bpdc in dc from previous round, *fpdc dec over next 2 stitches, bpdc* repeat from *. Sl st around dc. 24 dc
Round 29 Ch 2, fpdc dec around Sl st around dc. 12 dc.
Round 30 Ch 2, fpdc dec around. Sl st in dc. 6 dc
Cut a long tail and weave in the top of the hat, then pull to close. Fasten off.
