12 days of DIY crochet gifts to make: Day 9- super chunky gloves
Acquanetta Ferguson
Day 9 of the 12 days of DIY gifts to make presents a pair of super chunky gloves for those on your lists who love these types of fingerless gloves.
These are perfect for extra warmth without sacrificing your fingers especially those who need to still either text, get their social media on, or get work done in a cold office.
With a P hook and three strands of yarn, this is another fast gift to make. The pattern is for a small/med size.
The glove project time is about 2.5 hours to make.
Please do not post this pattern on your website or take it as your own. I ask that you instead link to my page, which will help with internet karma. Please note you can use this pattern for personal use and sell what you make. I only ask that you credit me as the pattern creator and link to this article. Thank you.
Materials:
3 skeins of yarn. I used Red Hearty Super Saver. Any worsted weight yarn will work.
Size P hook
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Stitches used:
Half Double Crochet – hdc
Back Loop Only - blo
Notes:
The gloves are worked in a spiral.
Make 2
With P hook, chain 12. Being careful not to tangle the chain, slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1 ch 1 (counts as a stitch). Hdc in next stitch, then hdc around. 12 hdc
Round 2 Hdc in the blo in each stitch around. 12 hdc
Round 3 - 5 repeat round 2. 12 hdc
Round 6 Ch 2, skip 2 stitches, then hdc blo in 3rd stitch (thumb hole made), then hdc blo around. 10 hdc, 2 ch.
Round 7 Hdc in the blo in each stitch around (including the ch 2). 12 hdc
Round 8 – 9 Hdc in the blo in each stitch around. When you get back to the first hdc made in the 9th round, sl st, then fasten off.
For the thumb hole, sc around the area for 2 rows. Or leave as is. Really your choice.

Cut yarn and weave in ends. That’s it!
