Happy New Year readers! With all the holidays behind us, the mad rush to create gifts has diminished some, however, that doesn't mean the creative spirit has died. On the contrary, for designers this is a perfect time to get out those patterns that have been cluttering around either in thoughts or on paper.
Looped beanie
Acquanetta Ferguson
Here is a fun and easy pattern that is perfect for a beginner looking for more of a challenge to the expert crocheter looking for something easy, but still challenging enough to be of interest.
This pattern utilizes both the back loop only and front loop only technique. For the most part, I rarely see front loop onlycrochet designs let alone used together with the back loop only method, which is a very popular way to crochet.
For those who love texture, then you are going to love the subtle raised stitches throughout the hat, which makes this not only a visual treat, but a fun hat to make that will surely have everyone wanting one.
Please do not post this pattern on your website or take it as your own. I ask that you instead link to my page, which will help with internet karma. Please note you can use this pattern for personal use and sell what you make. I only ask that you credit me as the pattern creator and link to this article. Thank you.

Round 1 In a magic circle, ch 2, then 11 dc in the circle. The ch 2 will count as your firs dc here and throughout the pattern. Sl st into ch 2. (12 dc)

In the next stitch 1 dc in the blo, then in the same stitch, flo. Continue to do this until you get 24 dc. Sl st into ch 2. (24 dc) You should have staggered stitches, one picking up the blo and the other picking up the flo.
Round 3 Ch 2, then in the next stitch, *1 dc in the blo, then in the same stitch, 1 dc in the flo, 1 dc in the blo of the next*, repeat from * until the end. Sl st into ch 2. (36 dc)

Round 5 Ch 2, 1 dc in blo of the next stitch, 1 dc in the flo of the next stitch, then 1 dc in the blo in the same stitch, 1 dc in the flo of the next stitch, 1 dc in the blo of the next stitch, 1 dc in the flo of the next stitch, 1 dc in the blo in the same stitch, repeating the alternating of blo and flo until the end. Sl st into ch 2. (48 dc)
Round 6 Ch 2, 1 dc in blo of the next stitch, 1 dc in flo of the next stitch, 1 dc in blo of the next stitch, 1 dc in the flo in same stitch, 1 dc in blo in the next stitch, 1 dc in flo of the next stitch, 1 dc in blo of the next stitch, 1 dc in the flo of the next stitch, 1 dc in the blo in the same stitch, repeating the alternating of blo and flo until the end. Sl st into ch 2. (60 dc)
Round 7 - 16 Ch 2, then *1 dc in the blo of the next stitch, then 1 dc in the flo of the next stitch*, repeat from * until the end. Sl st into ch 2. (60)
Round 17-19 Switch to J hook, ch 1, then sc in the blo in each stitch. On the very last row, fasten off and weave in ends. (60 sc)
If you don’t want your hat to be this slouchy, then cut back on your rows, 12 rows total, then 3 rows of sc. This would give you less slouch.
There you have a fun and interesting hat to crochet. Enjoy.
