Though in some parts of the U.S. it is very, very cold, spring is almost upon us, and the patterns I’ll be presenting will have that in mind, even if doesn’t feel like it.
Free pattern: The Ivy Slouch-slide0
Acquanetta Ferguson
With this hat, I wanted the mesh look without a huge mesh look. So I went with a smaller hook and the V-Stitch. A very simple pattern but as you can color scheme gives the hat that bit of pop.
Overall time to make this hat is about 2-4 hours. This is not a hard hat to make, but I started the hat a little weirdly however it is what achieves the look. So paying attention to counting is very important.
Pattern is written in US crochet terms. This pattern gives you PERMISSION TO SELL your finished items. It is appreciated if you credit the design to Acquanetta Ferguson and to list the pattern link.

The Ivy Slouch
With G hook, ch-4 and sl st to form a ring.
Round 1 Ch-3 (counts as dc and ch-1), then dc, ch-1 around. Sl st into ch-2 of first ch-3 made. (12 dc, 12 ch-1)
Round 2 Sl st in ch-1 space of previous round (from the beg v-st made), then beg v-st ch in same space, then you will do 2 v-st in the next 6 v-st around. Ignore the extra ch-1 made from round 1. When you get to the last v-st, sl st into ch-2. You should have 12 v-sts.
Round 3 Sl st in ch-1 space of previous round, then beg v-st in same space, 2 v-st in the next v-st from previous round, *v-st in next v-st, 2 v-st in next v-st* repeat from *. Sl st in ch-2. (18 v-st)
Round 4 Sl st in ch-1 space of previous round, then beg v-st in same space, v-st in next v-st, 2 v-st in next v- st, *2 v-st in next v-sts, 2 v-st in next v-st* repeat from*. Sl st in ch-2. (24 v-st)
Round 5 Sl st in ch-1 space of previous round, then beg v-st in same space, v-st in next 2 v-sts, 2 v-st in next v-st, *3 v-sts in next v-sts, 2 v-st in next v-st* repeat from *. Sl st in ch-2. (30 v-st)
The hat should measure 6.5 inches. Please note, that I’ve made this hat twice and had to make adjustments to lighter ww yarn in order to get gauge. If using yarn such as Caron Simply Soft or Red Heart Soft go up one more increase round if you need to (4 v-st, then 2 v-st for a total of 36 v-st. Just continue to follow the pattern, just note that you will have one more round that the pattern calls for or you could try and H hook if you want) For Vanna’s Choice, Red Heart Super Saver, Red Heart With Love, Joann’s Sincerely, and other similar yarns, then the pattern as written with work.
Round 6 Sl st in ch-1 space of previous round, then beg v-st in space, then v-st in each v-st around. Sl st in ch-2. (30 v-st)
Round 7-10 Repeat round 6. (30 v-st)
Round 11-13 Switch to new color (if following my color scheme idea, otherwise keep going), and repeat round 6. (30 v-st)
Round 14-15 Switch to new color, and repeat round 6. (30 v-st)
Round 16 Switch to new color, repeat round 6. (30 v-st)
Round 17 Ch-1 (counts as sc) then sc in each ch-1 space and dc. (90 sc)
Round 18-21 Just keep going (no more sl) and sc in back loop only. Fasten off.
