A basic beanie is sometimes called for, because as much as the designer in me wants to create and have fun with stitches, something basic can sometimes come out pretty amazing.
For this hat, I ended up doing half double crochet in a continuous round, in the back loop only. I wanted to create something for the men out there without any frills and I think I came close. The beauty of this hat is that it can be worn as a typical beanie, or when pushed slightly back, can be worn as a slouchy hat.
This hat requires only 2.5 hours of your time and less than a skein of your favorite worsted weight yarn. This is also a great stash buster.
