Free Pattern Jane Slouch

Decided to offer this up for free. It really is an awesome pattern and I look forward to everyone's version!

Jane Slouch

Materials

H hook

4.5 Hook (for the Lion Brand Wool-Ese to get gauge and the Brava)

Knit Picks Wool of Andes Super Wash

Knit Picks Brava Worsted

Lion Brand Wool-Ese

Stitch markers

Yarn needle

Approximately 218 yards of yarn used

Finished Size: Teens and Adult Women = 20 - 22 inches around or 51 - 56 centimeters. Easily adjusted to fit any size.

Stitches used:

Single Crochet = sc

Half Double Crochet = hdc

Half Double Crochet Decrease = hdc dec

Double Crochet = dc

Abbreviations:

Slip Stitch = sl st

Chain = ch

Stitch = st

Stitches- sts

Right Side = RS

Wrong Side = WS

Gauge:

Band 9sc x 7 rows of the pattern stitch = 2 inches

Body of the hat 8 hdc x 6 rows = 2 inches

Some notes: You will only go in the back loop only when doing the sc row. You will have a defined right side and wrong side on the band (though you may like the wrong side vs. the right side). When counting the rows in the band, make sure you are counting the sc rows.

Band

Ch 19

Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook to end. Ch 1 turn. (18 sc) RS

Row 2 Sc and dc in same st, sk a stitch, sc and dc in next st, repeat until there is one st left, sc in it. Ch 1 and turn. (9 dc, 9 sc, 1 sc at end of row) WS

Row 3 Sk the sc from the previous row, and starting with the dc from previous row, sc in blo in every sc and dc from previous row to the end. Ch 1 turn. (18 sc) RS

Row 4 - 67 Repeat row 2-3.

Sl st the band together. Turn inside out to the right side.

Body

Round 1 Ch 1 Does not count as a stitch, then hdc around the band evenly until you get a total of 70 hdc.

Round 2 - 10 Don’t sl st (use a stitch marker here if you need to) as you will just go around for 70 hdc.

Round 11 Hdc in next 7 stitches, hdc decrease, repeat around. (64 hdc)

Round 12 Hdc in next 6 stitches, hdc decrease, repeat around. (56 hdc)

Round 13 Hdc in next 5 stitches, hdc decrease, repeat around. (48 hdc)

Round 14 Hdc in next 4 stitches, hdc decrease, repeat around. (40 hdc)

Round 15 Hdc in next 3 stitches, hdc decrease, repeat around. (32 hdc)

Round 16 Hdc in next 2 stitches, hdc decrease, repeat around. (24 hdc)

Round 17 Hdc in next stitch, hdc decrease, repeat around. (16 hdc)

Round 18 Hdc in next stitch, hdc decrease around. Hdc in last stitch. (9 hdc)

Weave in and close the top.
